"Six Flags Over Membership"
At
the Maryland State Fall Leadership Conference in Hagerstown Maryland, Mary
Redington and Derek Brown were asked to give a seminar on membership
recruitment. Last year, NC FBLA's membership was a mere 40-some members. This
year, the officer team decided that FBLA should go to Six Flags to encourage
members to pay their dues ASAP! The idea worked, and their membership
sky-rocketed to 120 members. After it was discovered that they had one of the
top memberships, they started advertising FBLA on the school television program
and on the announcements. Mary Redington, the President, put together a video
advertising the benefits of FBLA. That pushed them over the top, and as a
result, they have one of the highest memberships in Maryland.
